January saw us catch some high tides at Hoylake, New Brighton and Denhall Quay. The birding group visit to Moore Nature Reserve didn’t sound particularly interesting to me but it turned out to be a very nice morning with a nice smattering of thrushes, Song and Mistle Thrush, and Redwing. We also saw Treecreeper and Nuthatch, Goldcrest and a nice group of about 8 Siskins.

This was only the second birding day out of the month. A combination of factors had led to us not doing much birding so it was good to get out again, especially to Martin Mere which had been closed for some months due to Bird Flu.
