Birding Group Schedule Summer/Autumn 2026
After our morning at Burton Mere Wetlands, we repaired to Pesto at the Yacht where ten of us had lunch and went on to plan the next batch of mornings out starting again in September. The details are:

Birding Group Visit to Burton Mere Wetlands 30 June 2026
The last day of the Spring/Summer Birding Group term saw us at Burton Mere Wetlands on a day that, despite the rather grim weather forecasts, turned out to be a nice sunny and warm morning with not too much of the recent humidity. Although we didn’t see anything very special there was at least one…

Birding Group Overnight Visit to North Wales and Anglesey 15-16 Jun 2026
Our annual overnight stay was a trip to Anglesey where we hoped to get as many cliff breeding birds as possible at RSPB South Stack. The weather turned out to be fine and the traffic wasn’t too bad, so we were hopeful for a great couple of days of birding.

On the last full day of our holiday, and our last birding opportunity, we drove from Docking to RSPB Frampton Marsh avoiding major roads as much as possible. As it happened, it turned out to be the first day of a heatwave and probably the hottest of the year.

21 May 2026 – Chosely Drying Barns, Blakeney Point and Morston and Thornham
We started off around Chosely Dryng Barns to see if we could get Grey Partridge but we couldn’t! It is interesting that the field is back to its old usage after a brief outing as a piggery and looks like it used to do when we used to see Dotterel there. Perhaps it was a…

20 May 2026 Titchwell Marsh and Hunstanton
I wasn’t feeling that great, having developed what I though was a Willow pollen allergy but which now seems to be yet another lung infection. I decided to see if I could work my way though it but it meant that I struggled at quite a few bits walking around the tracks at Titchwell.
