Summary November 2024
Our quiet spell of birding continued into November with more bad weather being a disincentive. Also we were had a week in Sicily that limited our birding opportunities. Be that as it may, November did have one or two nice birding experiences.

Birding Group Visit to WWT Martin Mere 26 November 2024
On the 26th of November the birding group had a day out to WWT Martin Mere. It turned out to be a sunny day with only one, very brief, spattering of rain. We managed to get 39 species of birds at 2 year-tick winter thrushes.

Ortygia and Syracuse 5 – 12 November 2024
A week-long winter break in Sicily was supposed to offer us some winter sun but the weather was so bad that it didn’t go to plan. Although it was warm enough – about 20 degrees most days – it rained heavily frequently. We managed to have a couple of nice birding experiences despite this.

WWT Martin Mere 9 Oct 2024
After a lapse in membership, we renewed our subscription to the WWT in order to go to WWT Martin Mere. Would our investment pay off? It did, indeed, with some excellent sightings and a couple of year ticks

Birding Group Visit to RSPB Leighton Moss 8 Oct 2024
The Birding Group had a visit to RSPB Leighton Moss on 9 Oct 2024. We were hoping to see Bearded Tits as it is about the right time of year to start catching them on the grit trays. We could see Bearded Tits on the grit trays from the live tv monitor in the café, but would we get there in time to see them…
