The summary for July is simple – no birding at all apart from the back garden. This was due to a combination of wet days, hot days and all the birds laying low in the countryside after the breeding season.
We do continue to have too frequent visits of Ring-necked Parakeets tto the feeders but most of the birds are out in the countryside. At the start of the month there was a flurry of young birds but as the month progressed they all dispersed. We do continue to visitations from the local Sarrowhawk – usually just a flyover but sometimes it lands on the feeder.
Hedgehog activity is good with one every night, two occasionally and three less frequently. I don’t thin anything bothered to use our expensive hibernation box but that’s wildlife for you. Like humans, they are unreliable!
