A Second day with a car enabled us to get to El Jable again but this time a hire-car meant that we would have to go into the desert on foot. Whilst this does limit the gorund you can cover, it is a great experience just wandering around the tracks. It did not stop us from seeing a lot of the species that one can expect to see in the desert and it did not take long before we found our first Houbara !

We parked at the first track on the right as you leave Muñique, driving in the direction of Soo, and walked from there. Within five minutes we had our first Houbabra and then that was followed quickly by a single (and the only one we saw) Cream-coloured Courser. In the end we saw at least three Houbara Bustards including one in flight.

We had previously found a single Swift int he desert and this time we found a single Swallow ! As we returned to the car we saw a large bird just over the sea at the edge of the desert, roughly where we had parked our car. It looked like it might have been an Egyptian Vulture but we had to log it as a Buzzard as this was more likely !
