Summary October 2025

  • New “Year Ticks” in October 2025: 8

  • New “Life Ticks” in October 2025: 0

  • Total Species for Year so far: 128

The first birding group morning out in October was a visit to RSPB Leighton Moss on the 9th October 2025. We actually stayed overnight so we had two chances to catch the Bearded Tits and to potentially see some good migrant waders at teh Sea hides on a hight tide. We saw 45 species and managed to get six year ticks so it was pretty good overall.

We didn’t get much birding done for the rest of the month, just managing to fit in a visit to WWT Slimbridge on the 30th and 31st October 2025 which was on our return from a visit to Bristol to attend a friend’s funeral. We saw Buzzard and a Red Kite on our way down and at Slimbridge on our way back, the highlights there were year ticks of Green Sandpiper and Temminck’s Stint on the Rushy.

In the garden it continues to be quiet with a few of the usual birds; they seem to be coming less as a result. perhaps, of the change of feeders that I have had to make to keep the Rose-ringed Parakeets at bay.
