We started to resume birding in an occasional sort of way in February with a visit to Burton Mere Wetlands on 18th February which got us a few nice birds including Goosander, Egyptian Goose, Pintail and, of course, Marsh Harriers. It was very cold as was our next outing which was with the birding group at Tatton Park on 25th February. We got Raven, Buzzard, Goldeneye and Treecreeper.

In the garden, the birds are starting to appear more regularly. I have been putting meal worms out on the ground to help the five (!) Blackbirds that have taken to daily visits. This also seems to have attracted a daily pair of Jackdaws and some daunting numbers of Magpies which species seems to have lost all shyness of people in recent years. Some Ring-necked Parakeets have returned to plague the feeders.

Everything is a year tick at this time of year but particularly nice ones hthis month have been Goosander, Pintail, Raven, Treecreeper,

My Wifi camera-enabled bird box remains unused so we await developments there. I have also rigged another wifi camera pointing at the garden in general. It may be about time for the hedgehogs to start appearing after their hibernation. It is relatively easy for me to check this now as I can monitor the cameras on my phone rather than putting out the wildlife trap camera and checking it every day.
