A very quiet month. We only went out once – to Pennington Flash on the 24th which was the first outing of the birding group for the autumn term. There wasn’t much around but there was an unusual (for Pennington) sighting of a Great Egret there and good birds at the Bunting Hide.

The garden is quite quite but I have started putting food out again now that it is drier. So far only a Magpie has taken advantage of it. On the 23rd we had a Sparrowhawk on the feeder. We are down to one Hedgehog but I have no idea when he will start to hibernate; past experience sugguests it could be anywhere between now and the end of December !

Birding Group Visit to North Wales 18th June 2019

The next birding group outing was to North Wales starting at RSPB Conwy. We had thought just to do a quick tour of the nearest hides but, in the end, we did the full circuit. There were reasonably good numbers of birds but for the best was a very good sighting of a Lesser Whitethroat.
