March 2020 : Summary
My last day outdoors was the 13th of March. Thereafer I was confined to house and garden as a result of the Coronavirus lockdown. Only back garden birding allowed until further notice. Now we really appreciate the birding we have previously taken for granted.
The only birding, outside of the garden this month was out two visits, the first to Wales on the 3rd and to the Wirral on the 10th. We had to abandon all other visits for March which were to be Tatton Park on the 17th, Point of Ayr on the 24th and Marshside on the 31st. Although some members of the birding group tried Tatton Park, social distancing was near impossible and the subsequent trips were abandoned. There is no likelihood of the lockdown changing until the end of April at the earliest. This is particularly disappointing because we would have been keenly anticipating the arrival of the spring migrants and perhaps booking a birding related holiday later in the year.
All plans are now on hold and my only consolation is that my leg injury continues to make it hard for me to get about much. Still, I would have enjoyed a trip to the coast!
