This day was reserved for general sightseeing with our friends but we did manage to get a little bit of birding in as we took them to Shapwick Heath for a look at the Osprey. It had moved a bit to another tree but we still got fair views of it.
We met a family in the hide and they had three young children who rather dominated my scope as I has set my phone up on it and it was so much easier for them so see the bird than try to look through their rather poor bins. They were enjoying it so much that I could not bear to take the scope away so I let them look for far too long really before we had to get away. We couldn’t really do much proper birding with non-birding friends in tow but we got a little bit in.
