Thornham 12th May 2016

An early morning walk through the reed beds and up to the harbour and along the sea wall early in the morning (well 6.45am actually so not so early) on a lovely sunny morning was another treat and what a holiday when you can walk out of your cottage and within fifteen minutes you have seen Avocet, Whimbrel, Brent Geese and a load of other birds.

Straight off as soon as I had reached the start of the lane leading to the reeds I saw a pair of Blackcaps. On the path through the reeds I got the usual Reed and Sedge Warblers. Further on in the fields there were dancing Lapwing and Little flocks of Avocet and Brent Geese. Swifts screamed overhead and a Cuckoo sounded in the background. A couple of dozen excellent species in just an hour and a quarter. Magic !
